Debbie and I started eating Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) No oil the summer of 2020. We both had separate reasons: Debbie had an aversion to meat and I had stomach issues. We had been eating a Keto diet – high in fat and protein. Both of our weights had gone up – Debbie by 30 pounds and mine by 20 in just over 6 months. Something had to change.
Everytime we had a delicious dinner of broccoli with bacon and olive oil with a nice rib eye steak, my stomach would feel upset so much that I went to a doctor to see what was up with my stomach. Since I was over 50, the doctor scheduled a colonoscopy and a stomach scope. Yeah.
Debbie also had a colonoscopy scheduled around this time. For some reason meat had just lost its appeal. She found some recipes that were WFPB no oil and made a meal. We both enjoyed it. My stomach did not complain as much as normal.
From that day, we started eating WFPB no oil. We went through the pantry and fridge and set aside all the food that had meat, dairy, or oil in it. There was a lot. We gave it to family so it did not go to waste.
Within a week my stomach issues disappeared.
Debbie was losing weight.
We were both excited.
You have caught us where 7 months later I have lost 25 pounds and no stomach issues. Debbie has lost 40+. I also had a side benefit – my LDL dropped.
